Saint William of Vercelli, abbot of Montevergine
Saint William, abbot of Montevergine, was an Italian hermit, monk, and abbot born around 1085. He founded the Congregation of Montevergine in southern Italy, leading a life of prayer, austerity, and charity. His holiness attracted many disciples, and he became widely known for his miracles and spiritual guidance. He died in 1142 and is venerated as the founder of the Montevergine Benedictines.
