St. Marina the Monk

St. Marina the Monk

St. Marina the Monk (c. 5th century) was a Christian saint who lived during the 5th century in what is now modern-day Turkey. Born a woman, she disguised herself as a man in order to enter a male monastery and live as a monk. She gained a reputation for her piety and humility, and served faithfully in the monastery for many years. After her death, her true identity was revealed, and she was venerated as a saint for her courage and devotion. St. Marina is the patron saint of transgender individuals and is invoked for strength and perseverance in the face of adversity.
