St Romuald, Abbott, Founder of the Camaldolese order
St. Romuald, born around 950 AD, was an Italian monk and the founder of the Camaldolese order. He dedicated his life to monastic reform and established several monasteries throughout Italy. Romuald was known for his strict asceticism and devotion to prayer, often spending extended periods in solitude. He is venerated as the patron saint of sailors, cavers, and those suffering from fever.
