Josemaría Escrivá

Josemaría Escrivá

St. Josemaria Escrivá de Balaguer (1902-1975) was a Spanish Catholic priest and the founder of Opus Dei, a personal prelature of the Catholic Church. Born in Barbastro, Spain, he devoted his life to spreading the message that all people are called to holiness and that ordinary work can be a path to sanctity. He was a pioneering advocate of the universal call to holiness and the sanctification of daily life. Escrivá was beatified in 1992 and canonized in 2002. He is the patron saint of secretaries, technicians, and those seeking to sanctify their work.
