Saint Cyril of Alexandria
St. Cyril of Alexandria was a prominent theologian and bishop who lived from 376 to 444 AD. He was born in Alexandria, Egypt, and served as the Patriarch of Alexandria from 412 until his death. Cyril was a staunch defender of orthodox Christian doctrine and played a key role in the Christological controversies of his time. He is particularly known for his writings against Nestorianism, which denied the unity of Christ's divine and human natures. Cyril was declared a Doctor of the Church in 1882 for his significant contributions to Christian theology. He is venerated as a saint by the Catholic Church and is the patron of theologians.
