Saint Aaron of Caerleon

Saint Aaron of Caerleon

Saint Aaron was a Christian of Roman Britain martyred at Caerleon, the Roman fortress town of Isca in present-day south Wales, together with Saint Julius. Their death is usually placed in the persecution under Diocletian in the early 4th century. Gildas and Saint Bede count Aaron and Julius, with Saint Alban, among the first martyrs of Britain, and a church at Caerleon was later dedicated to them. He is not to be confused with Aaron, the brother of Moses. The Church remembers the two martyrs together on July 1.
