Saint Raymond, bishop of Toulouse

Saint Raymond, bishop of Toulouse

Saint Raymond of Toulouse (Raymond Gayrard) was a 12th-century French layman who dedicated his life and wealth to charity after his wife's early death. He built a hospice for poor clerics, helped rebuild the Basilica of St. Sernin where he served as chanter, and later joined the Canons Regular before dying on 3 July 1118. Renowned for posthumous miracles—including ending a local epidemic—he was beatified in 1652.
