Lazarus of Bethany

St. Lazarus of Bethany was the brother of Mary and Martha, who is best known for being raised from the dead by Jesus Christ. According to the Gospel of John, Lazarus fell ill and died, but Jesus resurrected him four days later. This miraculous event is celebrated on his feast day of July 29th. Lazarus is venerated as a symbol of Christ's power over death and is the patron saint of gravediggers, undertakers, and the terminally ill. Not much is known about his life after being raised from the dead, but he is believed to have lived for many more years and later became the first bishop of Marseille, France.
