St. Justin de Jacobis of the Congregation of the Mission, Bishop of Abissinia

St. Justin de Jacobis (1800-1860) was a Catholic bishop and missionary of the Congregation of the Mission (Vincentians). Born in Italy, he dedicated his life to evangelizing in Abyssinia (modern-day Ethiopia and Eritrea). He faced many hardships and persecutions but remained steadfast in his faith. St. Justin de Jacobis is venerated for his humility, charity, and tireless efforts to spread the Gospel. He is the patron saint of the Vincentian Congregation and the Diocese of Asmara in Eritrea.
