St Peter Faber, Jesuit
St. Peter Faber (1506-1546) was a French Jesuit priest and one of the first companions of St. Ignatius of Loyola. Born in Savoy, he studied theology at the University of Paris and joined the Jesuits in 1534. He played a key role in the establishment of the Jesuit order, serving as the first superior of the Jesuits in Portugal and Germany. Faber was known for his spiritual wisdom, gentle nature, and dedication to the poor. He is venerated as a saint for his holiness, his contributions to the early Jesuit movement, and his work in promoting Catholic reform during the Protestant Reformation. St. Peter Faber is the patron saint of those making the Spiritual Exercises.
