Eusebius of Vercelli
St. Eusebius was a 4th-century bishop of Vercelli in northern Italy. He was born around 283 AD and died around 371 AD. Eusebius was a staunch defender of Catholic orthodoxy against the Arian heresy, for which he endured exile and persecution. As bishop, he instituted the practice of clergy living in community, setting an example of asceticism and pastoral care. Eusebius is venerated as a saint for his courageous stand for the true faith and his devotion to his flock. He is the patron saint of Vercelli and is invoked against earthquakes.
