Pope Sixtus II
Sts. Sixtus II, Pope, and Companions, Martyrs were early Christian saints who were executed during the persecution of Valerian in 258 AD. Sixtus II was the bishop of Rome at the time and was martyred along with six of his deacons. They were killed for refusing to renounce their Christian faith. Sixtus II is venerated as a martyr and saint, and his feast day is celebrated on August 7th. He is the patron saint of altar servers and stone masons.
