St. Cajetan, priest, Founder of Theatines
St. Cajetan (1480-1547) was an Italian Catholic priest who co-founded the Theatine order of clerks regular. Born in Vicenza, he studied law and was appointed a protonotary apostolic by Pope Julius II. Cajetan later gave up his position to dedicate his life to charity and spiritual renewal. He co-founded the Theatines in 1524, a new religious order focused on preaching, the sacraments, and serving the poor. Cajetan is venerated for his piety, generosity, and service to the sick and the destitute. He is the patron saint of job-seekers, the unemployed, gambling addicts, and providences.
