Saint Dominic
St. Dominic of Guzmán (1170-1221) was a Spanish priest and the founder of the Order of Preachers, also known as the Dominican Order. Born in Caleruega, Spain, he dedicated his life to preaching the Gospel and combating heresy. Dominic established a new model of religious life based on preaching, study, and prayer. He was known for his zeal, humility, and compassion for the poor. Dominic is venerated as the patron saint of astronomers, the Dominican Republic, and the sciences.
