Tarcisius
St. Tarcisius was a young Roman Christian who lived in the 3rd century. He was entrusted with carrying the Eucharist to Christians in hiding during a time of persecution. On his way, he was attacked by a mob of pagans who demanded he reveal the identity of the Eucharist he was carrying. Refusing to do so, he was brutally beaten and died protecting the sacrament. Tarcisius is considered a martyr of the Eucharist and is the patron saint of altar servers and First Communion recipients.
