St. Stephan, King of Hungary
St. Stephan, also known as St. Stephen I of Hungary, was the first king of Hungary. Born in 975 AD, he ruled from 1000 to 1038 AD. As king, he established Christianity as the state religion and worked to strengthen the Catholic Church in Hungary. He is venerated for his piety, his efforts to spread Christianity, and his role in unifying the Hungarian people. St. Stephan is the patron saint of Hungary and of kings.
