Hyacinth of Poland
Hyacinth of Poland was a Dominican priest and missionary in the 13th century. He was born in 1185 in Silesia and became one of the early members of the Dominican Order. Known for his missionary work in Poland, Russia, and throughout Eastern Europe, he is often called the 'Apostle of the North.' Hyacinth performed many miracles and is especially remembered for saving the Blessed Sacrament and a statue of Mary from invaders. He was canonized in 1594.
