St. Columba, Virgin and Martyr of Cordoba
St. Columba was a young Christian virgin who lived in Córdoba, Spain during the 9th century. She was martyred for her faith under the Umayyad rule. Columba steadfastly refused to renounce her Christian beliefs, even when faced with imprisonment and torture. She was eventually sentenced to death and beheaded on September 17th. Columba is venerated as a brave witness to the Christian faith and a model of courage in the face of persecution.
