Saint Robert, abbot of Newminster
Saint Robert, abbot of Newminster, was an English Cistercian monk and abbot in the 12th century. He founded the Abbey of Newminster in Northumberland in 1138 after leaving Fountains Abbey. Known for his holiness, austerity, and wisdom, he inspired many to a deeper monastic life. His reputation for miracles and a gentle spirit attracted disciples, and he was venerated soon after his death in 1159.
