Saint Damian, martyr with Cosmas
Saint Damian, together with his brother Cosmas, was a physician and Christian martyr in the 3rd century. Both were renowned for offering medical care without payment, earning the title 'Unmercenary Physicians.' They spread the faith through their charity and refused to renounce Christianity during the persecution of Diocletian. Their steadfastness led to their martyrdom around the year 303. They are venerated as patron saints of doctors, pharmacists, and the sick.
