Saint Louis Bertrand, missionary to the Americas
Saint Louis Bertrand was a Spanish Dominican priest born in Valencia in 1526. He became renowned for his powerful preaching and missionary zeal, traveling to the Americas to evangelize in present-day Colombia, Panama, and the Caribbean. Despite facing difficulties such as language barriers and persecution, he converted many Indigenous people to Christianity and is remembered for his miracles. Bertrand returned to Spain later in life, where he served as a spiritual director.
