Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque
St. Margaret Mary Alacoque (1647-1690) was a French Roman Catholic nun and mystic, who played an influential role in the development of devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Born in Burgundy, she entered the Visitation Convent in Paray-le-Monial, where she reported having visions of Christ, who entrusted her with spreading the devotion to His Sacred Heart. Through her efforts, the Feast of the Sacred Heart was officially recognized by the Church. She is venerated as the "Apostle of the Sacred Heart" and is the patron saint of the Apostleship of Prayer.
