Saint Demetrios
Saint Demetrios of Thessaloniki was a Christian martyr from the early 4th century, venerated as a great martyr in the Catholic and Orthodox Churches. He was a soldier and a member of the military aristocracy in Thessaloniki, Greece, and was known for his faith and courage. Demetrios was imprisoned and executed for refusing to renounce Christianity during the persecutions of Emperor Diocletian. He is regarded as the patron saint of soldiers and is depicted as a warrior-saint.
