Saint Ernest, abbot of Zwiefalten
Saint Ernest was the abbot of Zwiefalten Abbey in Germany during the 12th century. He was known for his devotion to monastic reform and his commitment to the spiritual well-being of his monks. In 1146, he joined the Second Crusade and accompanied troops to the Holy Land. He is believed to have suffered martyrdom in Mecca or its vicinity while trying to spread the Christian faith.
