St. Andrew Avellino, Theatine, Priest
St. Andrew Avellino (1521-1608) was a Catholic priest and a member of the Theatine Order. Born in Castronuovo, Italy, he dedicated his life to preaching, hearing confessions, and founding religious houses. Known for his piety and austerity, he was a respected spiritual director. Avellino is venerated as the patron saint of people with jaw or dental problems, as well as those at risk of sudden death. He is also the patron of Naples, Italy, and the Theatine Order. Avellino was beatified in 1624 and canonized in 1712 by Pope Clement XI.
