Saint Leo the Great
St. Leo the Great was a Pope who lived from c. 400 to 461 AD. He is known for his strong leadership during a turbulent time in the Church, as he defended the faith against heresy and strengthened the authority of the papacy. As Pope, he played a key role in resolving the Christological controversies of his era, notably the Nestorian and Monophysite heresies. He is venerated for his theological writings, known as the Tome of Leo, which were crucial in defining the true nature of Christ. St. Leo the Great is considered a Doctor of the Church for his important contributions to Christian theology. He is the patron saint of the city of Rome.
