St. Leonard of Porto Maurizio, Franciscan
St. Leonard of Porto Maurizio (1676-1751) was a Franciscan friar who lived in Italy. He was known for his preaching and missionary work, leading many people to repentance and a renewed faith in God. Leonard founded several Franciscan retreats and was instrumental in the establishment of the Stations of the Cross, a popular Catholic devotion. He is venerated for his devotion to the Passion of Christ and is the patron saint of Retreat Masters. Leonard was canonized in 1867 by Pope Pius IX.
