St. Sylvester, Abbott, Founder of Silvestrine-Bendectine

St. Sylvester, Abbott, Founder of Silvestrine-Bendectine

St. Sylvester (c. 1175 - c. 1267) was an Italian Catholic saint and the founder of the Sylvestrine-Benedictine monastic order. Born in the town of Osimo, he felt a strong calling to the religious life from a young age. In 1231, he established a small community of hermits near Osimo, which later grew into the Sylvestrine-Benedictine order. As the order's abbot, Sylvester was known for his piety, humility, and strict adherence to the Benedictine rule. He is venerated for his devotion to prayer, service to the poor, and the miracles attributed to him. St. Sylvester is the patron saint of the Sylvestrine-Benedictine order and is invoked for protection against storms and bad weather.
