Saint Valerie of Limoges is venerated as a Christian martyr from the early centuries of the Church. According to tradition, she was converted and baptized by Saint Martial, becoming one of his first followers in Limoges, France. Refusing to renounce her Christian faith, she was beheaded for her beliefs. She is often depicted as a cephalophore, carrying her own head as a sign of her faith. Her relics are enshrined in the Church of Saint Stephen in Limoges.
