Saint Valery was a French abbot and hermit of the 7th century, known for his holiness and power of healing. He was born in Auvergne and joined the monastery of Autumoise, eventually becoming a missionary monk near Leuconaus (now Saint-Valery-sur-Somme). He gathered many disciples, living a life of piety, contemplation, and charity. Saint Valery is especially venerated in Normandy and northern France. His relics were held in high esteem, and many miracles are attributed to his intercession.
