St. Gatianus of Tours, Bishop
St. Gatianus of Tours, Bishop (Feast Day: December 18) was the first bishop of Tours, France. He is believed to have been born in the 3rd century and was sent to Gaul (modern-day France) as a missionary by Pope Fabian around 250 AD. Gatianus established the Diocese of Tours and served as its bishop for over 50 years, spreading Christianity throughout the region. He is venerated as a saint for his tireless evangelization and for founding the Diocese of Tours, which remains an important center of Catholicism in France. St. Gatianus is the patron saint of the city of Tours.
