Saint Emma of Lesum
Saint Emma of Lesum, also known as Hemma or Emma of Bremen, was a noblewoman who lived in the 10th and 11th centuries in what is now Germany. Widowed early, she dedicated her wealth and life to charitable works and the support of the Church. She is especially remembered for founding churches and assisting the poor in the Bremen region. Emma is venerated as a model of Christian charity and devotion. She is one of the few female saints venerated from the early history of northern Germany.
