Sts. Innocents, Martyrs

The Feast of the Holy Innocents commemorates the massacre of young children in Bethlehem by King Herod the Great in his attempt to kill the infant Jesus. These children are venerated as the first Christian martyrs, though they were never baptized. The feast is observed on December 28th each year. The Holy Innocents are the patron saints of babies, children, and orphans. They are also associated with protecting against abortion and miscarriage.
