St. Paolinus of Aquileia, Bishop
St. Paolinus of Aquileia was a prominent bishop and theologian of the late 8th and early 9th centuries. Born around 726 AD in Friuli, Italy, he served as the Bishop of Aquileia from 787 until his death in 802 AD. Paolinus was a prolific writer and a respected theologian, known for his defense of Catholic doctrine against the Adoptionist heresy. He participated in several church councils and played a key role in the Christianization of the Avars. Paolinus is venerated as a saint for his piety, scholarship, and pastoral leadership.
