Sts. Papias and Maurus, soldiers, Martyrs on the via Nomentana

Sts. Papias and Maurus were Roman soldiers who lived in the late 3rd/early 4th century. They suffered martyrdom for their Christian faith during the persecutions under the Emperor Diocletian. Papias and Maurus were executed on the via Nomentana in Rome on January 29th. They are venerated as patron saints of soldiers and are invoked against headaches.
