Saint Marcella of Rome
St. Marcella was a Roman woman who lived in the 4th century AD. She was a disciple of the renowned biblical scholar St. Jerome and a prominent figure in the early Christian community in Rome. Marcella devoted herself to ascetic practices, prayer, and the study of Scripture. She established a monastery for women in her home, which became a center of spiritual learning. Marcella was known for her piety, wisdom, and advocacy for the poor.
