Agatha of Sicily
St. Agatha, a virgin and martyr, was born in Sicily in the 3rd century AD. She suffered martyrdom during the persecution of Christians under the Roman emperor Decius. Despite enduring horrific tortures, she refused to renounce her faith. She is particularly venerated for her courage and purity. St. Agatha is the patron saint of nurses, breast cancer patients, and those suffering from diseases of the breast.
