St. Cunegunda, Bride of St. Henry II, Emperor

St. Cunegunda, Bride of St. Henry II, Emperor

St. Cunegunda (c. 975 - 03 Mar 1040) was a German Catholic saint and the wife of Holy Roman Emperor St. Henry II. Born into a noble family, she married Henry in 999 and became Empress. Together, they dedicated their reign to charitable works and the strengthening of the Church. Cunegunda was known for her piety, humility, and care for the poor. After Henry's death, she retired to a convent, where she lived as a nun until her own passing. Cunegunda is venerated as a model of Christian virtues and is the patron saint of empresses, the homeless, and those falsely accused.
