St. John Sarcander, priest and Martyr
St. John Sarcander was a Catholic priest and martyr who lived in the early 17th century. He was born in 1576 in Skoczów, Poland and served as a priest in Moravia. During a time of religious tensions, he was arrested and tortured for refusing to reveal information about a confession. He died from his injuries on March 17, 1620, and is venerated as a saint and martyr in the Catholic Church. St. John Sarcander is the patron saint of confessors and is invoked for the sanctity of the confessional.
