Saint Alexander, bishop of Jerusalem

Saint Alexander, bishop of Jerusalem, served in the third century and was renowned for his piety and scholarship. He assisted in founding the famous library of Jerusalem and encouraged Christian learning. During the persecution of Emperor Decius, Alexander was imprisoned for his faith and endured many hardships. He died a confessor around 251 AD and is venerated as a saint in both Eastern and Western Churches.
