Saint Jonas, martyr of Persia

Saint Jonas, martyr of Persia

Saint Jonas was a Christian martyr who, along with Saint Barachisius, suffered under the persecution of Persian King Shapur II in the 4th century. Refusing to renounce his faith, Jonas endured brutal tortures for his steadfast witness to Christ. His courage inspired many other Christians during a time of great suffering in the Persian Church. He is commemorated on March 29 in the Roman Martyrology.
