Bernadette Soubirous
Saint Bernadette Soubirous was a young peasant girl from Lourdes, France, who, in 1858, experienced a series of Marian apparitions in the Grotto of Massabielle. She conveyed the Virgin Mary's messages, leading to the establishment of Lourdes as a major pilgrimage site. Known for her humility and deep faith, Bernadette later entered the Sisters of Charity in Nevers. She endured illness with great patience and died in 1879. Bernadette was canonized in 1933.
