St. Eugene de Mazenod, Bishop of Marseilles, founder of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate
St. Eugene de Mazenod (1782-1861) was a French Catholic bishop and the founder of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate. Born in Aix-en-Provence, he dedicated his life to serving the poor and marginalized. As Bishop of Marseilles, he worked tirelessly to revive the spiritual life of his diocese and founded numerous religious communities. He is venerated for his devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and his commitment to evangelization. St. Eugene de Mazenod is the patron saint of the city of Marseilles.
