Sts Christopher Magallanes, priest and Companions, Martyrs in Mexico

St. Christopher Magallanes and his Companions were a group of 25 Mexican Catholic priests and laymen who were martyred in Mexico during the Cristero War in the late 1920s. Magallanes, a parish priest, was arrested and executed on May 21, 1927, for his refusal to renounce his faith. The other 24 companions, including 22 priests and 2 laymen, were also martyred for their religious beliefs between 1926 and 1937. They are venerated as symbols of the perseverance of the Catholic faith in the face of religious persecution. St. Christopher Magallanes and his Companions are the patron saints of priests in Mexico.
