Saint Quiteria
Saint Quiteria was a virgin martyr venerated in the Catholic Church, particularly in southern France, Spain, and Portugal. She is traditionally believed to have lived in the 2nd century and was reputedly one of nine sisters who were all martyred for their Christian faith. Her legendary story tells of her refusal to renounce Christianity, resulting in her decapitation. She is often depicted carrying her severed head as a cephalophore. Devotion to Saint Quiteria is especially strong in regions bearing her name.
