Saint Mariana, of Jesus de Paredes

Saint Mariana of Jesus de Paredes was born in Quito, Ecuador in 1618. She lived a life of deep piety and strict penance, dedicating herself to prayer and acts of charity. Mariana became known for her mystical experiences and reputed miracles, including healing and interceding during plagues. She died at only 26 years old and was canonized in 1950 as the first saint of Ecuador.
