Saint William of Gellone
Saint William of Gellone was a nobleman and military leader in 8th-9th century France, closely associated with Charlemagne. After serving as Count of Toulouse and fighting in defense of Christendom, he retired to found the Abbey of Gellone. He is remembered for his piety, humility, and commitment to the monastic life. William became a model of Christian knighthood and sanctity. He was canonized in the 11th century.
