Saint Ferdinand III of Castile
St. Ferdinand III, King of Castile, was a 13th-century monarch known for his piety and military conquests. Born in 1199, he ascended to the throne in 1217 and dedicated his reign to the unification and expansion of the Christian kingdoms in the Iberian Peninsula. He successfully conquered the Moorish territories of Córdoba, Seville, and Jaén, earning him the title of "Saint Ferdinand." Venerated for his devout Catholic faith, he was known for his charitable works and commitment to justice. St. Ferdinand is the patron saint of Seville and is invoked for protection against earthquakes. He was canonized in 1671 by Pope Clement X.
