Erasmus of Formia

St. Erasmus of Formia, also known as St. Elmo, was a bishop and martyr of the early Church. He is believed to have suffered martyrdom around 303 AD during the Diocletianic Persecution. St. Erasmus is venerated as one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers and is the patron saint of sailors, often invoked for protection at sea. His legendary endurance of torture is reflected in stories about his faith and miracles.
