Saint Elizabeth, queen of Portugal
Saint Elizabeth, queen of Portugal, was born in 1271 to the royal family of Aragon. Married to King Denis of Portugal, she was renowned for her deep piety, works of charity, and role as a peacemaker within her family and kingdom. Elizabeth devoted her life to caring for the poor and sick, often visiting hospitals and founding charitable institutions. After her husband's death, she became a Franciscan tertiary and dedicated her final years to prayer and service.
